Services - Premium rate services

There is a wide range of Premium Rate applications that divide into two basic types

Recorded services - giving the caller either passive or interactive access to recorded information, e.g. competition and voting lines, weather reports, financial updates, sports results and horoscopes. These can be hosted on Syntec platforms, or run on your own platforms, either hosted at Syntec's switching centre, or with traffic delivered to your remotely located platforms.

Live services - one-to-one live dialogues between the caller and the service provider, e.g. customer help lines.

Callers to premium rate numbers may be charged per call or per minute, depending on the range and tariff. Syntec provides a wide variety of options from fixed charge numbers at 50p, £1 and £1.50 per call, and pence per minute numbers tariffed from 10p - £1.50 per minute.

The revenue generated on premium rate calls is shared between the network operator (Syntec) for the carriage of the call, and the service provider (Our client) for payment of content, product or service. Callers pay for premium rate calls via their standard telephone bill.

The content and promotion of premium rate services are regulated by ICSTIS, the Independent Committee for the Supervision of Standard of Telephone Information Service. Permission may be required from ICSTIS prior to service provision, and we are always ready to provide advice in this area.

  • All live services All services charged at more than £1 per minute the total cost of the call can exceed £20
  • All consumer credit services
  • SMS services offering text chat and / or contact and dating services
  • All services charged at more than £1.50 per minute
  • All Directory Enquiry (DQ) services
  • Pay for product where the total cost of the call can exceed £20
  • Remote gambling services

Applications for ICTIS approval can take up to 4 weeks and must be made by the service operator (i.e. you) - we can provide advice and assistance with making your application if required.
